96way Efficeon Cluster
ワークステーションの復興なるか--「個人用クラスタ」システム登場へ
白状すると、昔資金が潤沢だった頃、8から16-wayのPCクラスタを家に導入しようと画策していた事がありました。なに考えてたんだろう自分。そんな事を思い出してしまった。これ消費電力が少ないのが良いですね。しかし96-wayで150GFlops(Linpack)か。Internal Connectが遅いのがアプリだと制限要因になりそうだなぁ。安いInfibandチップとかがないのが問題なのかな。でもRapid I/OとかHyperTransportとかPCI Expressのスイッチチップというのもある気が。まああとはオンメモリで1回の探索が4GB以下に制限されるので巨大配列を扱うのが面倒なところとか。32bitですから。Opteron EEベースでつくればいいのではとも思わなくもないが、しかしEfficeon、安いんですよね。
